Through the 2010s, White Walls Worldwide was a Montreal-based clothing manufacturer that produced apparel for local and international labels. Under the same roof, a small team of resident designers, myself included, worked alongside one another, developing their own collections and concepts. The company had a big impact on the creative scene in Montreal at this time, hosting unique parties and pop-ups that encouraged multi-disciplinary collaboration and the proliferation of a modern fashion house format.
During my tenure, one of the things I created was this womenswear capsule for the fall 2017 transitional season. It was inspired by dusk and dawn on the West Coast: two moments that mirror one another, yet carry their own beauty and significance. I grew up in Vancouver but was living in Montreal at the time, so the collection bore an inherent nostalgic quality that emerged from my longing for the comfort of home.
Defined by a striking minimalism, the collection avoids external branding in favour of considered colour blocking, distinctive high-low silhouettes, and reversible functionality. The collection was shown at White Milano during Milan Fashion Week and featured in various magazines and publications including Highsnobiety's FW17: 13 Upcoming Brands To Know.
